About This Service
What we do:
Prepare a sit-in or takeout meal for Denman Island Families with young kids, every other week. The ethics of this program are to provide healthy meals made with as much locally sourced food as possible, and to offer this food without the expectation of any money in return.
How it works:

Meals are usually offered every other Thursday evening (from 5-6pm).

We offer a take-out meal one time, and a sit-down meal the next.

Recipients are asked to bring take-out containers for the take-out meals to keep costs low and reduce our environmental impact.

Recipients receive an email from the Program Coordinator, Bee, approximately a week before each meal. This email provides the date and menu of the next meal, and whether it is a sit-in or take-out meal. RSVP is required to help us plan for cooking.

Donations:

We serve a wide variety of families who are in varying economic situations. Families who are able may choose to make a donation to the organization when possible, however there is never any expectation to donate. This program is designed to be ‘barrier-free’ for families.

Family Meals cost approximately $10 per adult.

Recipients are welcome to put a donation in the jar at the meal, or to send an e-transfer if it’s within your means.
